A state trooper was grazed by a bullet during a seven-hour standoff with a Wappiner man following a domestic dispute, according to multiple sources.
The incident started around 7:32 p.m., Monday, Sept. 2, when police received a 911 call for a disturbance on Marlorville Road in the Town of Wappinger.
When state police responded an unidentified man opened fire, grazing the trooper, sources said.
State police then set up a perimeter and began negotiations with the man, who sources said was holding a woman and children and was yelling at police during talks.
The man was taken into custody around 2:25 a.m., without further incident, multiple sources said.
A woman and two children were seen being removed from the scene as some point during the event.
State police said the incident began with a domestic dispute but did not offer further details, including the man's identity.
The injured trooper was said to have suffered a minor injury.
